Why Do You Get Out of Bed Every Morning? Taking a Client-First Approach

In Simon Sinek’s video on leadership and inspiring action he explains that, “people don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it.” He outlines the concept of the Golden Circle, stating that companies often communicate from the outside-in, when in contrast inspiring leaders will act from the inside-out. What he means is that companies that believe in what they do and communicate why they exist, set themselves apart from the competition and build trusted relationships with their customers. They truly believe in their purpose, which is what inspires them to get out of bed in the morning.

What inspires you to get out of bed every morning? This is the question we ask all of our clients.

Whereas other agencies tend to lead with selling the creative content upfront, at Look we take a client-first approach, understanding them from the ground up before we make any recommendations.

We start the process with what we call a Discovery Session. During the session, we dive into the fundamentals of the business, ask important questions around the goals, metrics, challenges, etc. and then create the vision for where we want to go together. This session allows Look to have a 360 degree view of the client, so we can ensure we are making educated and experienced recommendations going forward. Identifying the WHY is the first step in understanding what motivates the client and drives them to be successful.

Why they sell it though is to enrich people’s lives, offering them the opportunity to spend more time with their families and friends and enjoy the camping lifestyle. Whether it is the marking, advertising, sales or social media approach, we need to ask ourselves “does this enrich people’s lives?”

  • What Hillberg & Berk sells is jewellery, but why they sell it is a different story. When someone buys a piece of Hillberg & Berk jewellery, they are empowering themselves and women everywhere through what that purchase stands for. The reason the employees come to work each day is not to sell the product, but to empower other women to make a difference in their lives and instill confidence in them to do whatever they put their mind to.
