Look Business Wise Seminar Recap – How to Make Your Customers Sparkle
Today, Look hosted our fifth Business Wise Seminar featuring Dina Holoein from Hillberg & Berk. Dina spoke on the topic of customer service, and explained how Hillberg & Berk sets themselves apart from the competition when it comes to making their customers sparkle. As Dina mentioned, good customer service is not just about asking questions and interacting with the customer. It’s about delving in and asking the questions that matter, and really trying to understand what makes that person tick. People know the difference between sincere interest and a generic speech. If you can commit five minutes of your shift to asking questions such as who that person is shopping for, why they came in, and how you can make their visit that much more meaningful, you’ve won a customer for life.
If you didn’t get a chance to attend the presentation, these were Dina’s three ways to help you succeed in delighting your customer:
1. Always remember to put yourself in your customers’ shoes. You never know what people are going through, so being empathetic is essential and contagious.
2. Sincerely show interest in the customer, and treat them how you would want to be treated. The customer will sense insincerity from a mile away.
3. Pave a clear and easy path for your front line teams. A clear path ensures the best experience for the customer and a happy team.
One of the most important takeaways for me was that even though there was a focus on retail sales in the presentation, all of what was mentioned can be applied to client relationships as well. If we don’t take the necessary action to be sincere with our clients, and just treat them like they will always come back for business, then we will lose them. Take a moment to get to know your clients and treat them with the same respect you would want to be treated with.
